Comment Approved Notifier Plugin v2.0

Sometimes, your visitors want to know that you approve their comments. That plugin does that for you. When you approve a comment, it sends an e-mail the comment author using his/her e-mail address automatically. "Comment Approved Notifier" is a simple plugin so when you activate it, it starts to run. No options, no settings.

Installation:

  1. Download the plugin and unzip it.
  2. Unzip and upload the `com-approved-notifier` directory to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory
  3. Go to 'WP Admin » Plugins' and activate the 'Comment Approved Notifier' plugin
  4. When you approve a comment, the plugin will send an e-mail to your commenter automatically.
  5. If you want to change the message, please edit the plugin and change $message variable.

The plugin was tested on WP 2.7 and WP 2.8. If you have a problem, please let me know it and send a comment to me. And i am a Turkish, so i am sorry for my poor English.
If you use earlier WordPress version, please use Comment Approved Notifier v1.1

Version History

Version 1.1: Fixed some bugs. Older version sends e-mail to pingback commenters so please, update.

    Nice idea for a plugin. If you don't mind me making a suggestion, where you have used the word 'that' within the plugin's message, you need to change them to 'this'. Also one of the your should be a you.

    Just one suggestion: Storing the e-mail message text in a separate file. It will be very useful if you don't use the english original, because in that case you need to edit the comment-approved-notifier.php file at every update.

    I agree with you, completely. In fact, i don't think to update it again. Maybe, i can add an option page so the users can write the message to send but i don't know when i do this.

    Any chance we can get it to work with an STMP server? I have a few thousand comments every day, and sendmail on my server tends to not be very reliable.

    I haven't got any idea. My plugin uses wordpress mail function (wp_mail in wp-includes/pluggable.php). The function includes 'wp-includes/class-smtp.php' and 'wp-includes/class-phpmailer.php' files and it uses 'phpmailer' class.
    I don't know how i can change the plugin to work with a SMTP server. I have to study about this. If i, i update the plugin.

    The plugin works nice on a windows hosting with smtp server.
    I prefer a text in the message rather than in a separate file but the ability to have an option to change it (for foreign language by example) could be cool.

    I liked this plugin very much and have just used it on my site. To check whether it works, I posted a comment as general user (and not as admin) with a valid email. However, I have not received the "comment approved" email even after 2 hours! I have done exactly as written in the procedure. Is there something wrong?
